Generation of Population Data from Additional X-Chromosome Markers
Introduction
Advances in sequencing technologies have enabled the identification of new genetic markers without requiring changes to the analytical methodologies currently employed. At the same time, companies in the field are continuously developing new commercial kits incorporating an increasing number of markers, within a context of growing competitiveness.
In particular, the incorporation of additional X-chromosome markers offers the possibility of increasing the resolution of complex kinship analyses. However, due to their recent development, reference population databases are not currently available for Latin American or European populations. Therefore, this working committee proposes to perform a statistical analysis of these new markers in these populations.
Objectives
- To generate a population database based on the X-chromosome markers included in the Microreader 19IDX or Microreader 31IDX kits.
- To evaluate linkage disequilibrium (LD) and compare the results obtained with those previously published for other populations.
- To propose appropriate statistical evaluation methods based on the LD results obtained.
Methodology
Each laboratory may participate with a maximum of 2 authors (who must be GHEP members) and a minimum of 100 samples.
The registration process consists of three stages:
- First, register using the GHEP-ISFG online form. Both authors must register individually;
- Next, one of the authors must complete this form and upload the registration confirmations for both laboratory members;
- The Working Commission coordinator will confirm receipt of all information and provide access to a webpage containing the analysis conditions and specific instructions*.
Please note that steps 1 and 2 are mandatory to successfully complete registration.
* files containing amplification conditions (scale-down to 1–3) for paper samples, run parameters, and updated panels and bins.
Participation Requirements
- To be a member of GHEP-ISFG and be up to date with membership fees.
- To pass the typing evaluation using samples M1–M3 from EIADN-34 (2026).
- To submit at least 100 male samples per participating laboratory.
- To submit the DECLARATION OF USE AND CONSENT form together with the sample results.
Deadlines
- Registration: October 1 to December 30, 2026.
- Typing of samples M1–M3 from EIADN-34 (2026) to evaluate laboratory performance. Deadline for submitting results: February 28, 2027, to the email address mcaputo@ffyb.uba.ar (and caputomariela@yahoo.com.ar in Cc), using the following format:
- Confirmation of participation based on laboratory performance: no later than March 15, 2027.
- Sample typing: submission of results by June 30, 2027, to the email address mcaputo@ffyb.uba.ar, with a copy (Cc) to caputomariela@yahoo.com.ar.

Notes
- Each laboratory may designate up to two co-authors for a potential publication.
- The order of authorship will depend on the number of haplotypes submitted.
